thurs: went to topone with
sou and
yr! the last time i met sou was really
last year. goodness how time flies. the singing was fun; the novelty of discovering a new singing joint was fun too! yr was so cool in her imitation of ashin in 走火入魔 that sou and i couldnt refrain from laughing. it was also the first time i've been to topone - i was rather impressed with all their special lighting effects, newer, cosier and more comfy surroundings, and ESPECIALLY the NETT price haha. for 7 hours of singing/shrieking, it's quite worth it.
fri was an extremely tiring day! first, dearie and i went to bugis to buy some stuff, and then we sought to satisfy my sudden craving for
kfc. after that we headed to ECP for our
cycling session! i was a horrible cyclist as usual; cycling in a rather zig-zag fashion. i believe i was quite a road hazard - i collided into someone because my legs didnt have the strength to pedal up-slope so i kinda lost control and crashed. the poor guy, he must have been cursing at me =x in the evening, we had our dinner at c-nai hk cafe instead of waraku as planned. ordered quite alot of nice food and exceeded our fund's budget! after the satisfying dinner, we took a stroll along the beach, enjoying the cooling sea breeze. i love my adorable, sweet baby, who's ever so obliging =D
exciting week ahead, 1 last week to call my own before sem starts!

i survived the
library book sale @ expo and came back with 8 non-fiction titles...and the flu bug. ok the probability that i actually caught the flu virus in my office is 99%, what with the colleagues sitting ard me coughing and wheezing away like there's no tomorrow. anyway, i woke myself up at 7am on friday, squeezed onto the mrt with the peak period office workers, just in time to reach expo before the doors open at 930am. little did i expect that my fellow citizens shared the same bargain-hunting mindset as i - the queue stretched almost to the mrt, and many people were armed with trolleys and luggage bags! inside the hall, thousands of ppl sniffed around browsing through the books, picking
anything which was to their interest, filing up numerous shopping carts and plastic bags. after they're satisfied with their find, they found themselves a cosy spot on the floor, sat down and started browsing through each book, selecting what they wanted, and discarding the rest
on the floor -.- yes, at $2 per book, it was a steal (if u ignore the yellowed, dog-earred pages and the musty smell) and i couldnt resist. my basket was filled to the brim in no time, and i had to retreat to a corner to do another round of selection to free up more space in my cart. in the end, i reluctantly ditched all the not-so-practical books and bought 8 in the end :)
some reflections about my past 8 weeks as a temp accounts/admin assistant...despite my numerous gripes and grouses, i'm actually thankful for this job - it was a great eye-opener and a fantastic time-killer. the learning experience also more than made up for the pittance wages i received (all thanks to the agency) they charged my company almost $11/hour. i only got $7. this job allowed me appreciate the practicalities of what i had been studying the past 1 year. it was pretty amusing and somewhat enlightening to see first-hand how the financial and management accounting knowledge was applied in the real world. far more interesting than reading some text-book example, i would say. moreover, i believe the glimpses of not-so-subtle office politics will help condition me fo the real world in future. it was also good to interact with the management, esp the financial controller. it's made me realise that the interactions in the adult world is such a jarring contrast to my childish choices of conversation topics. the cleaning auntie treats me v well too, even though she's such a gossip..an endearing gossip, nevertheless :) all in all, a great experience without the burdens of an internship.

happy birthday kelly lim!
Saturday, July 19, 2008
Here are some of the photos which were taken on 16 July, which was kelly's 20th bday! i'm uploading it simply becoz i want to prove that i'm more reliable than edwyn chew =p
we had dinner at Dian Xiao Er at vivo, where we ordered this set meal thingy. it was like a traditional chinese family
zhi cha dinner atmosphere..very heart-warming :) after the dinner, the waitress brought out the yummy shortcake cake we bought from Bakerzin!

the china waitress is lousy at taking photos! the focus is totally off and it is blurred:

We got a voice card, chocolate dessert cookbook and toy sunflower for her! yay! look forward to eating chocolate desserts made by her! =D
A random pic of me at my work desk:
i'm sooo glad to be off work (for the next 3 weeks before sem starts). the routine of waking up at 6am every morning for 8 weeks is just so draining.
the view from Henderson Waves by night:

the night mode of my handphone cam is obviously not very good! it's a pity i left my cam in the car and was too lazy to walk all the way back just to get it. i've seemed to have developed a fetish for the mt faber/telok blangah park trail area. and i love going to this bridge. i love the feel of the gentle night breeze and watching the myriad of stars above.
i am bad at taking self-protraits =s

taken from some random part of mt faber:
This was from Henderson Waves, which is this new bridge connecting mt faber n telok blangah park. It's actually a pretty high bridge, tho i could not manage to capture the full intensity of the view with my phone cam:
I wanna go trek that 9km of bridges and nature trails from harbourfront to west coast park! a tad too ambitious, probably?
went swimming with tyr on friday! we felt so healthy after that, even tho tyr only swam a few metres in total haha but she improved alot from the last time (3 yrs ago??) practice makes perfect! =D NEXT swimming date: jurong west swimming pl! it's supposed to be covered so we wont be at the mercy of the erratic weather. SOU u're supposed to GO ok.
i'm prolly the most retarded person when it comes to all sorts of games; card games, board games, dearie's PSP..i even suck at his hp game =S haha but it's still fun at minds cafe nevertheless =D the 2 bimbos and 1 cutie at mind's cafe:

i'm loving my dearie more and more each day despite our many differences..which was surprisingly contrary to wad i had predicted initially =)

i've meant to upload some pics from my camera..but as usual i'm too lazy to do so..and i cant recall anything of note in the past few days.
quite a dismal haul from this yr's GSS because there was so little time to go shopping. the peanuts which i earn from work are not enough to fund my purchases! grrs.
it's just been a blur of work. i need to quit soon! (or maybe i'll be fired). coz their accounts are screwed up this month, the havoc most certainly created by me. the books record $200K more than what the bank balance shows - my colleague brought home the stack of reports to do reconciliation tonite. i'm the only one who is doing the receipts, yet i haven no idea how it became like that. abit scared of gg to work tmr haha.
with all the kinds of stress i'm experiencing even when it's supposed to be the vacation (ironic, isnt it) - i've decided to try taking up
yoga! but not at those fancy expensive yoga centres, though. i'm thinking more along the lines of the bukit batok CC =) yeaps! but the only suitable slot is sunday MORNING at 930am, which clashes with my tuition! =( and somebody
please be my yoga partner! i dont want to join a roomful of aunties in stiking ridiculous-looking postures. well in case my yoga plans do not come true, i'll get myself a yoga mat nevertheless to do some floor exercises on. i'm really serious about the exercise plan this time (but i always say that =S)
Also, it's high time to get those calories a-burning!
jogging and
swimming here i come! =DD oh but rmb that sun-block! after working with these sun-phobic clooeagues, i've developed a healthy aversion to sun exposure. they kp saying that, once the brown spots appear, they'll nv go away. i dont want that to happen!
i rather like my sec 1 tutee. she's smart, willing to learn, hardworking and we get along with each other. lower secondary rates might not be that fantastic, but it's really fun to be in the position to guide this kid along, develop her interest and help her build a strong foundation in math =)
i'm so looking forward to end july.
oh WHERE'S my SWIMMING date!!
6:01 AM
everybody was kungfu fighting!
Saturday, June 7, 2008
i met up with my 2 bimbos, sh, ed and alfred tdy at PS to watch
kungfu panda! the movie was very funny! Dreamworks productions are generally v good =D and i had the small tub of ben n jerry's all to myself coz i refused to let the guys eat, and anitha claims she is getting thin. i really enjoyed the movie, although i might have been a tad bit of a nuisance coz i laughed super loudly and high-pitched, and was still laughing away when everybody else has stopped =X
after the movie, we walked to orchard, and the high-class bimbo wanted to take a look at this banana shop at this shopping mall loaded with over-priced designer stuff. one day i'm gonna earn enough money to splurge on these pretentious items =D we also browsed for awhile at taka basement. i like to window shop at taka's basement because it has alot of interesting and cute stuff which i'll probably never buy.
i wanna buy a kungfu panda!!!! hehe.
my job is very boring..but the experience is quite interesting. i've nv had any colleagues who so openly criticize and bitch about the manager almost every minute. but their unhappiness is not unfounded because i've seen how inept this said person is. the dept is already severely under-staffed because of recent resignations, yet all he does is throw work out to his stressed out subordinates, expect them to get everything done, and criticized their productivity when things are behind schedule. the best thing is,
his errors are not
his fault, but he nv hesitates to point out other ppl's errors. and he's oretty obsessed with protecting his ass because he does not want to let me do the more important stuff like payroll, in case i make mistakes n he has nobody to push the blame to because i'd have disappeared in a few wks' time.
being highly educated does not mean that u are capable.
